Biography
Since
joining The Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1998, Thalia
has been developing digital surgical library as a strategy to serve
library users spread throughout the UK and abroad. She is currently
involved in managing an NPfIT funded project to build a web based
Specialist Library for Surgery, Theatres and Anaesthesia
which will be part of the National Library for Health .
She manages the development of a Learning Resources Section for
the Intercollegiate Surgical Curriculum Project. The other major
aspect of Thalia's responsibilities involves the care of the College's
nationally and internationally important historical collections
– both print and archives. She has been successful in obtaining
funding support from the Research Resources in Medical History
grant scheme run by The Wellcome Trust which has enabled cataloguing
and conservation projects. Additional fundraising support has enabled
the purchase of a digital book scanner and the development of the
library management system.
