Biography
Cath's co-presenter Gill
thought it would be a good idea to write her biography, this is
what she had to say about her colleague.
Since arriving from the
Audit Commission, Cath has been a dynamic force for transforming
Kent's libraries. Her challenging approach is refreshing and
has inspired:
- The modernisation of libraries into funky and
fun places to be;
- an openess to new ideas and innovation; and
- a recognition that users should be at the heart
of the service
She also
has a penchant for expensive jewellery and has a wicked sense of
humour!
Abstract:
Public Libraries at the heart of the community engagement agenda
A very interactive and
strategic level workshop exploring the opportunities presented by
public involvement and the perceived barriers to delivering
these outcomes. Most of the seminar will involve group discussion
and collective creative thinking. We will not focus
on case studies of good practice but rather on how strategic level
managers can create/encourage a culture of public involvement throughout
their services. The output of the seminar will be a shared
understanding of the opportunities and barriers to delivering better
services through public involvement, and some shared thinking on
how to overcome these barriers.
