Biography
Chris
White was elected to Hertfordshire County Council to represent central
St Albans in 1993 and was Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group from
1994 to 2003 and from 2005 to date. He was Deputy Leader of the
Council from 1995 to 1999. He chaired the council's Environment
Scrutiny Committee from 2002 to 2005 and was a member of Hertfordshire
Police Authority from 1995 to 2002.
He
has been Leader of the Liberal Democrats of the East of England
Regional Assembly since 1999. A former Parliamentary candidate,
Chris was his Party's number two on the Eastern Region list for
the European elections in 2004.
Chris
chaired the LGA Management Board (2003-2004) and the Regeneration
Board (2004-2006). He now chairs the LGA Culture, Tourism and Sport
Board.
Chris
was appointed to the Board of the Audit Commission in 2005.
