Dr
Flis Henwood is Professor of Social Informatics in the school of
Computing, Mathematics and Information Sciences at the University
of Brighton. Professor Henwood is the head of the School's
Social Informatics Research Unit.
Abstract
: Promoting Healthy Communities: Exploring the Role
of Public Libraries
The
findings from a study of health information seeking in Public libraries
will be presented. The study's objectives were to identify
how public libraries fit into people's information landscapes, identify
challenges in supporting users in health information seeking, and
contribute to the debate about the role public libraries can play
in promoting healthy communities.
