Biography     

Ian is responsible for developing new business partnerships and expanding BT's corporate social responsibility agenda in  London.  Recently he spent 4 years on secondment to the Foreign Office, based in New York , supporting the UK 's foreign direct investment (FDI) team. This appointment followed two years working in Lisbon helping Portugal Telecom change the company's internal culture and process in preparation for EU telecoms deregulation.

 

Abstract: Coming to terms with the e-government agenda

The presentation will identify reasons for disinterest, and beliefs about what internet connectivity can and can't do. It will include surprising and encouraging findings derived from research into what content and functionality (if any) truly appeals to the sections of society where growth in take up of the internet has been zero for several years - this is supported by a "Fly-on-the-wall" film offering evidence from focus groups.
