Abstract:
The Conservative party perspective
Local
councils run libraries. The service in many parts of the country
is in crisis with many library closures being announced following
cutbacks in government grants. Decisions are being made to
reduce spending on books and other materials and I believe that
a better vision and direction is needed from central government
and its advisers for the service. I hope to clarify that vision
during my speech.
