Biography   

Samantha Burdett is a PhD student in Library and Information Science at The University of Western Ontario and was a visiting researcher at the University of Brighton from January to August 2006.

Abstract : Promoting Healthy Communities: Exploring the Role of Public Libraries

The findings from a study of health information seeking in Public libraries will be presented.  The study's objectives were to identify how public libraries fit into people's information landscapes, identify challenges in supporting users in health information seeking, and contribute to the debate about the role public libraries can play in promoting healthy communities.
