More than a building: the changing library. Plans for the new Birmingham Central Library.

Abstract

Libraries need to reinvent themselves to match the aspirations of tomorrow's communities, responding to the challenge of retaining and recruiting new members, extending their services and forming new partnerships. What will the library of the future look like and more importantly what role will it play? What function will library staff fulfil in the future? Ayub Khan explores the idea of the library of the future.
