Bill Macnaught

Biography

Bill has an MA from St Andrews and Dip Lib from Strathclyde. Having started his career in Stirling he moved to Gateshead in 1984 and has been Chief Officer in Gateshead since 1991. He was a member of the UK working party that produced "New Library: the People's Network" in 1997. The Minister appointed Bill as Chair of the Advisory Council on Libraries in 2003.

Making Framework for the Future a reality: the importance of leadership

Abstract

The importance of leadership is not a new issue for public libraries. But it is now an urgent matter. In this talk Bill will share some thoughts about the way forward from his perspective as Chair of the Advisory Council on Libraries and as Chair of the "Framework for the Future" Strategic Implementation Group.
