Books Give Children A Better
Start |
The
Youth Library Review, is the journal of CILIP's Youth Libraries Group
(YLG). The journal is published twice a year: a paper issue in spring,
and an autumn issue exclusively on the World Wide Web.
Its aims are:
To inform YLG members of the work carried
out on their behalf
To report on the wider world of childrens
librarianship by focusing on key issues and government initiatives
To celebrate the work of librarians working
with children
The spring edition includes specially commissioned
articles:
- An interview with a high profile author, illustrator or name from
the childrens book world
- What it is like to be Carnegie and Kate
Greenaway Medal winners
- A set articles from our members on a given
theme of topical interest.
As well as:
- A report from the current YLG Chair on their plans for the coming
year
- Minutes and Treasurers Report for the previous years
YLG AGM, and the Agenda for the following year
- News from members
The autumn edition usually includes:
- As many news items as members care to submit
- Key papers from the annual YLG Conference
- A full report on the Carnegie/Kate Greenaway Awards
- Reports from the current YLG Chair, the LAs Professional
Adviser Youth & Schools Libraries and Launchpad on the years
achievements
- Links to websites that are of especial use and interest to children
and childrens librarians
- News from members, and the childrens book world
As each spring issue is archived
on the web soon after publication, members have access to the articles
that have appeared in YLR since Spring 1996 onwards.
