'Holding position' proposed, pending review of subscription model

Subscription rates for members of CILIP: the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals will be pegged at the rate of inflation as at May 2003 if proposals by CILIP’s Treasurer Andrew Wale are accepted next month. The proposals will be put to a vote by CILIP members, at the Institute’s Annual General Meeting on Thursday October 23.

“This proposal is intended as a holding position. A review of the subscription model is being carried out by the Membership Recruitment and Retention Panel, and this will feed into the current Fundamental Review of CILIP services,” said Mr Wale, announcing the proposed figures. If accepted by the AGM, the changes proposed for 2004 will produce increases for individual members of between £1 and £8 per year.

Full details of the proposed changes follow this release. CILIP’s AGM starts at 4:30pm on Thursday 23 October 2003, following a full programme of events as part of Members’ Day. The morning’s activities take place at CILIP’s Ridgmount Street offices, and the afternoon’s events, including the AGM, are at the School of Oriental and African Studies, Thornhaugh Street, Russell Square, London WC1H 0XG. Members who wish to attend the AGM or any of the other events are invited to register with CILIP Conferences, 7 Ridgmount Street, London WC1E 7AE. Tel: +44 (0)20 7255 0544. Fax: +44 (0)20 7255 0541.
