tBk mag: “It’s Reader Development Jim – but not as we know it!”

tBk magazine coverAuthorZone is taking a well-earned rest after featuring over 200 top names – but we are not resting on our laurels, oh no! For some time we have had the idea to publish a new magazine specifically aimed at 8-12 year olds who may be part of a reading group, or shadowing the Carnegie Kate Greenaway awards at school, or just a regular library user.

We approached Guy Pringle who has a proven track record of magazine development and publication (newBOOKSmag and myBOOKSmag). Guy agreed to publish on our behalf, and Helen Boyle is the new editor of the magazine. Moira Arthur and Peter Sheldon are also on the editorial board.

So the first issue of tBk mag was launched at the end of June with a view to publishing every quarter there after. To promote the launched Peters Bookselling Services mailed out copies to libraries and schools throughout the UK. Issue two, the Autumn issue, came out in September and the December issue is now in preparation.

Our intention is to promote great books to keen readers wherever they are, so apart from the funky element of the mag, there will be loads of book extracts, reviews, author talkbacks and a few ideas for articles that begin to take shape during the life of AuthorZone.
It is an exciting project, and if you are able to support the initiative in any way we would be extremely grateful.
