Page summary
In a flexible labour market it is very much the norm to have people choosing temporary work as a way to gain experience in different sectors or to find professional work in a different part of the country. New graduates still unsure of which sector attracts them most will gain good work experience before committing to a permanent job. Although this is a lifestyle choice for many, others find it is thrust upon them through redundancy and will return to the permanent labour market as soon as possible. They will use their experience of temping to gain new skills and to experience different work environments.
