According to The Mental Health Foundation one in four people suffer mental health problems; unfortunately the subject remains taboo. Mental health, which includes stress, covers diagnosable psychological disturbances including acute agitation, depression, anxiety disorders, manic depression and schizophrenia. Research by the Industrial Society in 2001 confirmed the assumption that a person suffering from poor mental health is often seen as a liability. They are seen as incapable of doing difficult, challenging work, immune from constructive criticism, and needing to be closely monitored.
