The programme for the Briefing has been specially prepared by Kelvin Smith, an acknowledged expert in records management and digital preservation.  He has special expertise in records appraisal and archiving, records management standards and the promotion of records management in Government.

Formerly Head of the Cataloguing and Accessioning Unit, Records Management and Cataloguing Department at The National Archives in Kew, he is the author of Facet Publishing's title Planning and Implementing Electronic Records Management - a practical guide.

He will be using his extensive experience and extensive contacts across the records management community to secure an expert panel of speakers. Delegates will benefit from a cutting-edge programme that deals with complex issues in a practical and understandable way, and an unmatched speaker panel.

Time will be specifically allocated in the programme to allow delegates to debate the issues raised with speakers, and this will continue into the refreshment and lunch breaks. CILIP's Executive Briefings follow a tried and tested format that has been highly rated by delegates at previous events.

Organised by CILIP: the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals.
