Jill Johnstone is an economist who joined the National Consumer Council

in 1981 as a Senior Policy Officer. Prior to this, Jill worked in industry for

a major trade association.

At the National Consumer Council she has worked on a wide range of policy issues including trade, competition and agriculture, about which she has produced some significant publications.

In 1999 she was seconded to the Performance and Innovation Unit of the Cabinet Office as part of their project team looking at international trade issues.

For the past four years, Jill has been the National Consumer Council's Director of Policy, working with our Deputy Director of Policy to oversee our four strategic themes: public services, open markets, disadvantage: and sustainability.

As a policy advocate and author, Jill has continued to work directly on policy, most notably on consumers and innovation and intellectual property projects publishing submissions to the European Commission, government and Parliamentary enquiries.
