The Smithsonian brings together 1 Library (with 20 branches), 19 Museums & Galleries and 18 Archives (not to mention 9 Research Centers and a Zoo) through innovation and vision. Jointly, LAMs provide access to the Smithsonian's collective photograph collection through the Flickr Commons and the Smithsonian Photography Initiative.

Spotlight Presentation 1: LAMs converging @ The University of Calgary

Bringing together libraries, archives, museums, and the university press for the benefit of scholars, the University of Calgary is building a 21st century research facility in the heart of its campus. The Taylor Family Digital Library will house a "collection of the future" integrating access to traditional print, museum, and archival materials with digital and three-dimensional objects, media formats and onsite broadcasting and telecommunications.

The City of York has recently launched an ambitious new plan to bring the central library and the archives together. Public libraries bring a strongly service-oriented perspective to the discussion about library, archive and museum collaboration. York also operates a heritage learning network which brings libraries, archives and museums together in the learning agenda

Roundtable Discussion: Service Organisations assisting LAM collaboration

Highlighting key UK players involved in LAM convergence, the session will feature a moderated discussion with respondents.  Rather than formal presentations each participant will make a five-minute statement followed by in-depth discussions, prompted by questions from the respondents.
