A
hands-on workshop specially
for
the UK library community
Service
planning is a critical issue for professionals working in all sectors
of the UK library community. There is a keen focus on building services
and flow, service levels, and materials management innovations.
This can be expressed as “ The Library as Place
”. Online
booking is now available.
CILIP
has teamed with international consultancy Aaron Cohen Associates
to present an intensive hands-on workshop in London on 23 October
2008. The programme
for the day will include a number of unique features
including Visual Scan , a technique
developed from the results of more than 1,000 library projects over
the past 40 years.
The
workshop will be presented by Library Consultant Alex
Cohen , supported by Diana
Edmonds , Head of Libraries
at Haringey Council. The aim of the day is to enable participants
to explore how they can upgrade their libraries on limited budgets
to establish a “ Library of the Future ”.
During
this workshop delegates will learn:
How to evaluate a service operation
and space needs
How to identify library operational
constraints
How to identify options for improvement
After
the workshop delegates will know:
Library space planning methodology
Space measurements – standards for
users, collections and staff
Design concepts for library collaboration
Delegates
for this special Workshop will be restricted to a maximum of 50
on a strictly first-come first-served basis. Online
booking is available and immediate action is strongly
advised.
