Ronald Janssen

Biography 

Mr. Janssen graduated in 1988 at the Technical University of Eindhoven. Before joining Centraal Boekhuis in 1999 he was a senior management consultant at Atos Origin and IT manager at ING Car Lease. At Centraal Boekhuis mr. Janssen holds the CIO position. As CIO he focuses on constantly professionalizing IT services, on aligning business and IT and on helping the business innovate through its use of technology.

Abstract: Exploiting the potential of RFID in bookstores; RFID-UHF Item Level-Solution.

This presentation will review how BGN together with Centraal Boekhuis launched an item-based radio frequency identification (RFID) tag system at a new bookstore in the Netherlands. The system has dramatically improved stock reliability, on-shelf availability and customer service. BGN plans to deploy the system throughout all of its consumer stores. The presentation describes the business case, the choice of UHF Gen2 technology and the results so far.
