Alan Hopkinson

Biography 

Alan Hopkinson is Head of Systems and Bibliographic Services at Middlesex University where he led the installation of RFID at the Hendon Campus library.  He is also the chair of the BSI Committee on Computer Applications in Information and Documentation which includes RFID in Libraries.

Abstract : Standards and Interoperability

RFID needs standards to ensure interoperability so that systems can survive a change in library system and use RFID in inter-library lending between libraries with different systems.  Efforts are under way to develop ISO standards to achieve this.
