Martin Palmer

Biography 

Martin Palmer is Interim Library Manager for Essex County Council, where he has worked in various roles since the mid-1970s. Involved in introducing RFID to Essex libraries, he has subsequently led its rollout to a total of 36 sites across the county. Martin is also a director of BIC (Book Industry Communication), and chair of the joint BIC/CILIP RFID in Libraries Group.

As RFID migrates from a new concept to a mature technology, what are the longer-term implications for libraries?  How important is RFID to public and academic libraries, and are they extracting maximum value from their investments?
