Hans
van Dijk
Biog:
My
name is Hans van Dijk, age 57. Head of the ICT department
of Biblionet Groningen, a network of 67 public libraries. In that
capacity I am responsible not only for the technical infrastructure
like network, communications and machines, but I'm also responsible
for the development of the “digital services” to our patrons.
My
background is diverse. I started in the Royal Dutch Navy, was a
youth worker for some time. Worked in education as a teacher. Had
my own software development firm and then became a consultant in
healthcare institutions. I was project manager for the millennium
change in the Dutch healthcare and I am now working for libraries.
I
started working when I was 15 and through part-time studies I eventually
earned a post-doctorate in Knowledge engineering.
For
the Dutch library organisation (VOB) I am member of several committees.
Amongst others, the Dutch libraries IT-Architecture committee and
the RFID standardisation committee.
