Prior to moving to the public sector, Diana worked in the private sector, initially as a freelance consultant. She then established Instant Library Ltd, a library services company, becoming its Managing Director for a number of years - and ultimately selling the business to Tribal plc. .In her new role as Head of Libraries in the London Borough of Haringey, Diana combines the public sector approach committment to serving the community with a private sector approach to to finance and fund raising.   Diana has extensive experience of specifying and procuring IT facilities, and has recently awarded the contract for RFID implementation in Haringey

Abstract - Haringey Libraries have just completed their first implementation of RFID systems at the Marcus Garvey Library - and plan to convert all libraries in the Borough over the next two years. The system has been developed by PV Supa, a Danish company, and is franchised in the UK by 2CQR. This paper describes the Haringey system and then moves on to discuss the economics of RFID implementation. Diana Edmonds reviews both the costs which will be incurred by libraries and also the potential savings which the effective management of RFID will deliver The paper then moves on to identify funding sources which may be available for library authorities which wish to move to the new world of RFID.
