  • Clearly demonstrate your professional excellence to employers

What's special about a CILIP qualification?

  • Flexible: Being portfolio based means you can fit gaining a CILIP qualification into your working and personal life.
  • Universal: Demonstrate how you have applied knowledge and skills in your workplace, whatever sector you work in.
  • Unique: The only library and information qualifications awarded by a Chartered Institute.
  • Open: Three levels of qualification provide everyone employed in the library and information sector with a route to professional status.
  • Supportive: Get help and support from your personal Mentor.

The Seal of Recognition gives the assurance that short courses and training will be relevant to the information profession and may be included in portfolios of professional development.

Credit transfer and credit rating

Find out how you can use Chartership and Fellowship to gain credits on university courses through Open University validation.

ACLIP Certification has been successfully credit rated by the Scottish Qualification Authority. Using the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF), Certification has been credit rated at Level 8, with 20 credit points allowing holders of the ACLIP to maximize their opportunities to transfer these general credits to other qualifications.

This will aid employers recruiting the right people for their jobs and will help candidates assess their level of learning.

Did you know?

You can apply for Chartership whether you are a new professional or have been practising for years. Because it's a professional development qualification it's designed to fit your career.
