Candidates must have been working in libraries and information for two years (full-time equivalent) or longer. A Certified Affiliate with a minimum of two years' relevant post-Certification experience and development can submit an application for Chartership.

 
 

ACLIP Certification handbook (pdf)

 ACLIP has been credit rated by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) - see info bar to the right for more information about SQA.  In order to achieve credit rating and be included on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) CILIP's formal application to SQA can be accessed here (word). This document will help you explain to employers what you can do and also contains further advice and guidance on the sort of material you could include in your portfolio. 

Scottish Credit and Qualifications Authority

    ACLIP Certification has been successfully credit rated by the Scottish Qualification Authority. Using the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF), Certification has been credit rated at Level 8, with 20 credit points allowing holders of the ACLIP to maximize their opportunities to transfer these general credits to other qualifications.

    This will aid employers recruiting the right people for their jobs and will help candidates assess their level of learning.

 

Certification criteria

    Candidates should demonstrate:

    • an ability to evaluate personal and service performance
    • an understanding of the ways in which their personal, technical and professional skills have developed through training and developmental activities and / or through practice
    • an appreciation of the role of library and information services in the wider community
