Graduate Training Opportunities

The CILIP Graduate Training Opportunities scheme has been offering employers the chance to recruit good, motivated graduates for over forty years. The scheme continues to be a vital resource for young and mature students, career changers and employers.

Employers can view Training Opportunities here without having to register. If you are a potential employer and would like to find out more please contact the Qualifications team by email or by calling 020 7255 0625.

Register a new Training Opportunity or update an existing record

An automatic invoice for £50 will be sent.  This will not delay the post being advertised.  Your entry will remain up as long as you wish during the year and may be readvertised in the same year with no further charge.

Additional information

Prospective postgraduate library and information students gain excellent experience and fulfil University entry requirements. Most positions are fixed term contracts for one year and employers recruit every Autumn, however there is the option to keep on a trainee and even support their following a part-time course.

Employers have got together to support each other in arranging visits and swapping ideas under the name of Chapter One.

We also have the UK's best resources for advertising jobs in libraries and information: lisjobnet.com and The Gazette, contact our advertising team for more information.

If you want to offer an opportunity every year here are some suggestions for employers concerned about the Dispute Resolution Regulations 2004.

Employers may wish to use the SCONUL Code of Practice. There is nothing to sign and no accrediting procedure however if employers who wish to commit to this Code can use the SCONUL name next to their entry.

If you use the CILIP Framework for Continuing Professional Development, you may display the CILIP name by your entry. This Framework can support development at any stage of your career.
