Using social networking and UGC websites and Web 2.0 technologies

 
 

This is a highly practical course looking at Web 2.0 technologies that library and information professionals can use in their organisation to work more efficiently and effectively.

 

Participants will learn how to promote themselves and their libraries, service or organisation using social networking and other user generated content (UGC) websites.

By the end of the course participants will have:

  • explored Facebook and consider ways of using it
  • created portals using home or start pages
  • constructed  search engines
  • used social bookmarking systems
  • looked at various new ways of communicating with colleagues

This programme is of interest to any library and information professional who has an interest in web 2.0 technologies and wants to use them within their organisation. Participants should have an email account they can access during the day to validate registration with a variety of resources.

Phil Bradley

Phil is a well known trainer, author and conference speaker who has worked with CILIP for many years. He has written several internet related books, particularly ‘How to use Web 2.0 in your library’.  He is also an accredited trainer to the European Parliament.
