Response to UK-IPO consultation on Proposed Changes to Copyright Exceptions
We broadly support proposals to extend copyright exceptions for preservation, education, and fair dealing for non-commercial research or private study but extensions to the latter must be mirrored in the library and archive copying exceptions. We also call for legislation to confirm application of the exceptions to the digital environment and to prevent them from being overridden by contracts. As convener of LACA and its majority stakeholder, CILIP is joined with LACA in its Response.
LACA Statement on Orphan Works, December 2007
LACA contributes its position statement to the international debate on orphan works. It advocates a range of approaches to provide a mixed economy solution for dealing with orphan works and to afford safe harbour status to not-for-profit institutions operating for the public good.
