CILIP Masterclasses - new for 2010

This brand new series of CILIP Masterclasses offers participants an interactive one-day event with formal presentations delivered by industy experts. These events focus on interaction with the presenters and between participating delegates. The aim is to ensure all participants gain in-depth, hands on experience and solutions they can immediately apply in their workplace.

Space, Service and Technology

This fully participative workshop lays the groundwork for library design, planning and building improvement projects. Using case studies delegates will find out how to evaluate space needs and identify options for improvement.  An integral part of the day will be a visit to a local library to carry out a Visual Scan, where delegates can put into practice the knowledge learned.

Following the success of the previous events held in 2009, Alex Cohen of Aaron Cohen Associates, and Diana Edmonds, Assistant Director responsible for Culture, Libraries and Learning in the London Borough of Haringey, have kindly agreed to repeat the events under the new format of a CILIP Masterclass for 2010.

Past delegates rated the 2009 events 85% Good to Excellent, with the two speakers rated 89%, and 87% believed it met their objectives. Among their comments were:

•  Excellent day that gave thorough insight into the topic
•  Helpful…and the speakers were excellent
•  A very enjoyable day and stimulating presentation
•  Enjoyed the provocative comments
•  Lots of ideas and practical help with the theory
