Online Discussion Lists

 
 

Despite the increasing popularity of social media such as Twitter and LinkedIn, online discussion lists remain a vital networking tool for many CILIP members throughout the country and abroad.

Numerous CILIP discussion lists exist to help members who might find themselves working in isolation from professional colleagues:

 

CILIP Discussion Lists

Lists marked with * are hosted by JISCmail.

*Chartered Status

LIS-CILIP-REG is for library and information professionals working towards Chartered status.

*Revalidation

To discuss issues/queries around the CILIP Revalidation qualification.

*CoFHE

A list for the members of the CoFHE: Colleges of Further and Higher Education Special Interest Group of CILIP.

*CoFHE Scotland

A list for members of the Scottish branch of CoFHE: Colleges of Further and Higher Education Group.

*Diversity

A list for the exchange of information and discussion about issues of diversity.

*European programmes

LIS-EUROPEAN-PROGRAMMES is for the dissemination of information on European issues that affect the UK library sector - including EU policy, funding, research, and projects. The list is supported by CILIP.

*Health Libraries Group

A forum for discussing Health Libraries Special Interest Group business, including publicising HLG activities.

International Library and Information Group

Iliglist is an email discussion group run by and for ILIG members. The list opened in May 2001 and is hosted by Yahoo! Groups.

*Library services for education

LIS-EDUC is for the discussion of the provision of information to those involved in educational research, teacher training and the study of education; it was set up by members of the Education Librarians Special Interest Group Committee.

*Library History Group

LIS-LIBHIST is for members of the Library History Special Interest Group.

*Multimedia Information & Technology Group

LIS-MMIT is for Multimedia Information & Technology (MmIT) Special Interest Group members.

*Taxonomy Network list

The Taxonomy Network list is intended for those working in a content management, taxonomy design, or information architecture role, or project, who would like to exchange experiences and methodologies.

*UKeiG

LIS-UKEIG is operated by the UKeiG Special Interest Group.

*University College and Research Group

LIS-UCR is for University College and Research Special Interest Group (UC&R) members.

*University College and Research Group: London

LIS-UCR-LONDON is for members of the London branch of UC&R.

*Youth Libraries Group

YLG-LIST is open to YLG members to promote professional discussion and sharing of good practice.
