Bibliotherapy and "Books on Prescription"

This Practical Guide defines bibliotherapy, giving an overview of the development of both self-help bibliotherapy and "Books on Prescription" schemes and the evidence base supporting their use.  Some of the potential challenges are also set out.  There is guidance on issues such as training, funding, selecting reading material and evaluating an established programme.

In addition to the Practical Guide, you can also download some information about the Get Into Reading bibliotherapy project, which has been written by CILIP member Julie Barkway. Julie has recently completed an MA in Reading in Practice at the University of Liverpool.
