CILIP's policy and advocacy work
Policy and advocacy are core CILIP activities.
We promote a strong CILIP presence on matters of professional policy and advocate the value of librarians and information professionals, and the services they provide. We also comment authoritatively on relevant issues of the day.

Policy areas
CILIP is concerned with a broad range of policy areas such as information society, learning, health, culture, community development, economic development and business success. Find more about work in our policy priority areas.
Health

Policy Forum
The Policy Forum is a focus for the generation and debate of policy on professional issues and is responsible for monitoring and reviewing policy priorities. It is the key policy generating body of the Institute making recommendations to CILIP’s Council for endorsement. The Council may also refer issues to the Forum for consideration.
CILIP branches and special interest groups play an important part in CILIP’s policy development, through the Policy Forum’ both online and at meetings. CILIP branches in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland exercise autonomy in policy matters relevant to their own countries.
