We appreciate the huge amount of work that goes into your Chartership application and, together with colleagues on the Chartership Board, will do all we can to ensure you receive a result as soon as possible. Assessment normally takes between two and four months. However the timeline explains why assessment sometimes takes longer.
We write to candidates to let them know that their applications are still under assessment but we are not permitted to inform them what stage they are at.

The process
The office sends copies of your portfolio to a pair

|
If an assessor knows the candidate well they must return the portfolio, which is sent another assessor
|
The pair assesses portfolio individually
Then discuss it as pair
|
The decision
The pair may:
Accept
or
Reject – application is sent to second pair (they do not see original assessment)
or
Ask for more information through an
addendum or interview
Accept
|
The portfolio application is officially accepted at the next Board Meeting
(we cannot guarantee which Board will make a decision on an application because of the variables described here)
|
The candidate is informed by post and receives feedback to support a future Revalidation
|
The candidate is invited to register as a Chartered Member of CILIP
Second pair rejects
|
