"I believe the scheme to be a valuable one and feel it has greatly helped my professional development and increased understanding of the information and library field"Mentee
"mentor
n.
experienced and trusted adviser or guide”
Oxford English Dictionary
.
The mentor is an essential role in CILIP’s framework of qualifications. They are not expected to run training events or instruct the candidates but to help them realize their own potential through encouragement and direction.

We have provided some guidance on
how to choose a mentor
. Both candidates and mentors should read the
Mentor Scheme Guidelines
closely.
If you are already a mentor and would like to give Chartership candidates more information about yourself then you can use the Communities of Practice. Click

Problems viewing mentor details?
1. You must have logged in as a member before you try to view these member-only pages
2. Mozilla Firefox users only: If you first try to access a mentor page before logging in and then log in and then try to access the same page, the fact that you previously had an access problem with that page will be remembered by your browser and you will still get an error message. If you do a View/Reload on the offending page that should clear the problem. If the worst comes to the worst, close the browser session, then open a new one and make sure you login first before trying to access the member-only page.
