Certification
Please read the following updates very carefully about Certification as these new rules will apply to ALL Certification applications as from the 1st January 2009.
If you are preparing your application for CILIP Certification (ACLIP) you need to be aware of changes which will come into effect on 1 January 2009:
No further applications under Category 1 will be accepted after 31 December 2008
On 1 January 2009 a single category Certification scheme will be introduced with revised criteria bringing together those for the current Category 1 and Category 2. Applications under the single category Certification scheme will be accepted from 1 January 2009.
Applications under the current Category 2 will be accepted up to 31 July 2009.
From 1 August 2009 all applications for Certification will be under the single category scheme.
To help you understand your own position with regard to these changes more detailed information can be found on the CILIP website

Certification/2009changes.htm
Further details on the single category scheme will be posted on the website and the e-discussion list as they become available.
If you have any further questions, or concerns, please get in touch with Margaret Chapman (margaret.chapman@cilip.org.uk, tel: 020 7255 0646) or Michael Martin (michael.martin@cilip.org.uk, tel: 020 7255 0625) or e-mail quals@cilip.org.uk

Discussion List
LIS-CILIP-ACLIP
The ACLIP discussion list is now up and running and you can join by visiting the link below.
The list name lis-cilip-aclip has been chosen to harmonise with the existing LIS-CILIP-REG (chartership) and LIS-CILIP-REVAL (revalidation).
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/lis-cilip-aclip.html
The aim of the list is to provide support, encouragement and practical help to anyone involved with the Certification process.
The National Committee is keen to publicise publications which offer guidance to candidates.
With this in mind we are pleased that Hertfordshire County Libraries are a keen supporter of Certification and have compiled their own guidelines, which CILIP have approved for general use. You can down load copies of these from the links below. We acknowledge that these were written by Hertfordshire County Libraries for their own use but have been released for general use, for which we are most grateful.
Further advice is also expect to appear on the main CILIP web pages which can be found at
