Saturday 7th June
Aintree Racecourse
Picking a Winner:
How to plan your new mobile library and work with contractors to make sure you get what you want
This year's Mobilemeet is being held in the spectacular location of Liverpool and Sefton's Aintree racecourse as part of the European City of Culture celebrations.
As always the stars of the event are the mobile libraries themselves where delegates get the opportunity first hand to review the best in mobile library design and service development. The theme this year is how to work with a range of suppliers and builders to achieve that best.
Speakers will include:
Alan Moir, Libraries, Museums & Archives Manager, East Riding Council, on creating a customised vehicle to meet your needs
Derek Keillor of Keillor Coachbuilders Ltd. on how to commission from body builders to get the best result
A speaker from a major satellite communications company on delivering public internet access from you mobile library
The afternoon speaker is the witty and interesting Frank Cottrell Boyce, one of the most respected screenwriters working in the English film industry. After serving as the television critic for the magazine "Living Marxism," he met Michael Winterbottom and the two collaborated on "Forget About Me" (1990). Winterbottom had made five more films based on Boyce's screenplays, "Butterfly Kiss" (1995), "Welcome to Sarajevo" (1997), "The Claim" (2000), "24 Hour Party People" (2002), "Code 46" (2003), and "A Cock and Bull Story" (2005). Boyce has also collaborated with the directors Danny Boyle "Millions" (2004), Alex Cox's "Revenger's Tragedy" (2002), and Anand Tucker "Hilary and Jackie" (1998).
The event will be from 9.00am – 3.00pm with a two hour lunch to view the vehicles. As is now traditional at mobilemeets, a bacon butty breakfast will be available for early arrivers from 8.00 am.
Cost £50.00 plus VAT
Award winners will be presented in the official winners enclosure.
There is secure overnight parking available on site.
There is local accommodation in the Premier travel Inn next to the racecourse.
