Each of the Career Development Group's local divisions organise an active programme of events.
This is the current listing of training, events and conferences of the Career Development Group.
These include
• courses
• workshops and seminars on a variety of topics
• visits
• informal get-togethers
• fundraising
• social events
We aim to make our events affordable: some are free of charge, and others are competitively priced, with Career Development Group members usually paying preferential rates.
Most events are organised by our divisional committees and we welcome those who wish to get actively involved at this level. Experience with divisional committee work broadens personal professional development. There are valuable opportunities for exchanging ideas and experiences with library and information professionals working in different sectors.
National Events & Conferences
The Career Development Group also arranges events at a national level.
On Monday 29th April 2008, we held a successful one day National Conference entitled ‘Keys to Time’ which took place at Cardiff City Hall.
On 19th June 2008, our conference ‘Raising the Bar’ took place at University College London. It was a joint conference organised by the Career Development Group and PTEG. The one day conference was aimed at middle and senior managers on developing yourself and your service, featured plenary presentations, a choice of workshops and networking opportunities.
The Career Development Group will be contributing to several sessions at CILIP’s Umbrella Conference at the University of Hertfordshire next year.
Umbrella will take place on Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th July 2009.
