CILIP's biggest-ever Umbrella conference
Almost 500 delegates have registered for CILIP's flagship Umbrella 2007 event, which takes place at the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield on 28-30 June. New information about the event is being constantly added to its dedicated website at www.umbrella2007.org.uk/ where there is an on-line booking service.
The Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals expects to set a new attendance record at Umbrella 2007, and has already secured its biggest-ever supporting exhibition. Overall sponsor is Tribal, with further support from Innovative Interfaces, EBSCO Information Services, Swets, and MultiScreen Channel.
One highlight in 2007 will be the Poster Session with 27 posters on projects and new work on display. Viewing and judging takes place on Friday 29 June, with a prize for the best presentation. Submissions have come from individuals, groups, organizations and researchers representing nearly every sector of the information community. They include posters from the health service, academic libraries, commercial enterprises, public services, a national library and those providing career information.
Umbrella 2007 will attract library and information professionals from across the UK with a programme that comprises three plenary sessions and 56 specialist presentations in nine streams. This year's theme is Catalysts for Change - making a difference and almost 100 speakers will take part.
A range of supporting social events include the second Umbrella Awards Dinner on 28 June and a Gala Banquet at Hatfield House on 29 June. Full details, including the conference programme, are online at www.umbrella2007.org.uk/. For sponsorship and exhibition options contact Mailto:umbrella@cilip.org.uk or telephone 020 7255 0544.
