Why is David taking on the challenge?
I was inspired by the 100k challenge run by Ian Snowley and also a session at Umbrella that showed just what a positive impact a welcoming and well stocked library can have especially for children.
I was very lucky to be brought up in a household where libraries books and reading was constantly encouraged. Over the last seven years I have been able to read to my two children and see them begin to turn into confident independent readers themselves.
I will always remember the moment when I saw news reports of the Tsunami as I was holding my younger daughter who was them 1 month old and having this chance to help relieve the devastation in some small way is very rewarding.
