How do I get more involved with the Health Libraries Group?
We are always keen to involve Group members around the country to help with study days or to write for the Group newsletter. Our new publication Guide to Working in Health Information is now on the web but is intended to be constantly developing. If you have any ideas of what could be included, any update or, in particular, if you are working in a field not yet covered by one of the case studies, please contact Michelle Wake on michelle.wake@ulsop.ac.uk
How do I get on the Committee?
Committee membership is for a three-year period and is advertised at the appropriate time in the Group Newsletter, on this website and in CILIP update. In addition to this we have the option to co-opt additional committee members for specific tasks.
How does the Health Libraries Group influence health information policy?
CILIPs Health Executive Advisory Group (EAG) was set up to report on how health information services in the UK might be used to forecast the future of the Library Profession. The Chair of Health Libraries Group was on the organising committee of CILIP's Health EAG.
The report 'Future Proofing the Profession' was published in September 2004 and HLG has been selected as a pilot to investigate a new relationship between corporate CILIP and its special interest groups. The current HLG Committee is also setting up an external affairs team, whose role it will be to comment on relevant consultation reports, and ensure that the views of HLG members are heard.

How do I subscribe to Health Information and Libraries Journal?
HLG in conjunction with Blackwell Scientific, publishes Health Information and Libraries Journal, the only UK peer-reviewed journal of health library practice and research. Members receive a discount on personal subscriptions - for individual members in 2005, the subscription is £44.

HLG has just run its biannual conference in July 2006. The next Conference will be CILIP Umbrella Conference, for the first time in Hertfordshire.
