About HLG
HLG unites all those working or interested in libraries and information services for medical, nursing and other allied health professions, for people with disabilities and health problems, for those who are housebound or in residential care, and for carers and patients in hospital.
A newsletter is sent to all members and is also included with the Group's journal Health Information and Libraries Journal, published by Blackwell Scientific Publications. The journal is available to Group members at a reduced subscription rate. Each of the subject groups has its own newsletter.
There are two subject groups - Information for the Management of Healthcare (IFMH) and Libraries for Nursing (LfN). The Group also has representation on other bodies and maintains links with organisations which have similar interests.
(The Community Care Network (CCN), which was the third subject group became the Access Network and Organisation in Liaison with CILIP but ceased in February 2005.)
The Health Library and Information Services Directory in the UK and Republic of Ireland is now online at
www.hlisd.org
Study days and other meetings are held throughout the year. Additionally there is a conference held at the CILIP Umbrella conference and in the alternate year there is an HLG conference.
