ISG (CILIP) Reference Awards 2007 Nomination Form
ISG presents three awards annually:
The Reference Awards consist of:
Besterman/McColvin Medal for outstanding works of reference published in the UK in print
Besterman/McColvin Medal for outstanding works of reference published in the UK in electronic format.
and
The Walford Award for sustained and continual contribution to the science and art of bibliography
Since 1970, the Reference Awards have recognised excellence; promoted awareness of outstanding reference books and products; encouraged quality and set industry standards.
The Awards are administered by the Information Services Group. Nominations are judged by members of Information Services Group, with assistance from the Multi-Media Information and Technology Group for the electronic award.
The judges will assess the nominees: the following are among the criteria which are taken into consideration in making an award:
- authority of the work and the quality and kind of articles and entries
- accessibility and arrangement of the information
- scope and coverage
- style
- relevance and quality of the illustrations
- quality of indexing
- adequacy of the bibliographies and references
- currency of the information
- physical presentation
- originality of the work
The Walford Award is presented to an individual who has made a sustained and continual contribution to the science and art of bibliography in the UK. The nominee need not be resident in the UK.
