Refer is published three times a year (February, June and October) and distributed free to members of the Group.
Subscription rates for 2008 are £22 in the UK and £26 overseas (sterling payments), £32 equivalent (non-sterling payments).

Contributions
Refer is a forum for news and views on all aspects of reference and information work. Articles of up to 2500 words are welcomed. Contributions should be on disk, accompanied by a typescript.

REFER circulates directly to over 3,000 professional librarians in libraries of all kinds.

The readership comprises about

REFER is unique in this country as the only specialist journal for librarians involved in reference and information work.

REFER is read thoroughly and taken seriously by precisely those librarians who are responsible for ordering reference materials. It is very likely, therefore, that the advertisements and inserts in REFER will receive more serious attention than the deluge of direct mail publicity which thuds daily direct from the librarian's in-tray into the wastepaper basket! They are restricted in relation to the content of the journal thus ensuring there is always more than three times as much reading matter as advertising and no more than two inserts.

REFER publishes articles on directories and handbooks, on information resources in print and other media for business and industry, on handling information in reference and special libraries among many other topics of interest to information professionals / librarians working in all areas of information services. Internet and virtual reference information services are proving increasingly popular topics. Regular columns include news from SCOBI (business information), SCOOP (official publishing), EU publishing and ISG committees, national and regional.
