Abstract

Aileen's presentation will provide delegates with an update on the various martketing initiatives which have been launched as part of the Framework for the Future action plan.  She will also spend 10 minutes talking about her vision for the marketing of the library service in Richmond upon Thames for the next five years.

Her starting point will be to discuss what marketing is and her belief that as a profession and service you do not have the background or knowledge or understanding of what marketing is to be able to apply its principles successfully.  With this as the context she will talk about her project in which she has employed a consultant to work on the development of a marketing strategy, which is currently in the developmental stages.  Her final thoughts will be on what she hopes to be marketing in the future - covering what her aspirations for the service really are.
