Biography
Caroline Raphael is Radio 4's Commissioning Editor for Drama and Entertainment.
Her first job after studying for a drama degree at Manchester University was as Assistant Director at the Nuffield Theatre, Southampton, and she went on to work at the Royal Exchange Theatre, the Bristol Old Vic and the Gate Theatre. She has also worked as a Literary Agent and she joined the BBC in 1984 as a Script Reader. She became a drama producer a year later and went on to be the Editor of Afternoon Theatre, the Monday Play and Thirty Minute Theatre. In 1990 she became the Drama, Features and Youth Programmes Editor for BBC Radio 5 before being appointed Head of Radio Drama in 1994.
She took up her role as Commissioning Editor at Radio 4 in 1997.
