Biography
John Dolan OBE joined Birmingham as lead manager for community libraries in 1990, progressing to Head of Birmingham Central Library and Head of Birmingham Libraries. In 1997, on secondment to the Library & Information Commission, he was project leader for the development of a national strategy that became The People’s Network. John was awarded the OBE in 1999 for services to libraries and information provision. Now, as Assistant Director in the city’s Learning and Culture Directorate he is responsible for Birmingham Libraries, Birmingham City Archives, Early Years & Childcare, Family Learning, Birmingham Youth Service and the Birmingham Adult Education Service. He is currently organising this year’s Black History Month in Birmingham.
