Trevor is the current Chair of the Public Libraries Group of CILIP, a role he undertook in April 2005 having previously chaired the Marketing Panel of the Group.

He is Executive Head of Library, Heritage and Registration Services for the London Borough of Sutton, a post he has held since 1992.

Trevor has worked in public libraries all of his professional career and has experience of working in such diverse authorities as Buckinghamshire, Somerset, Walsall, Berkshire and Brent.

In 1197/98 he was President of the Association of London Chief Librarians.  In 1995 he was the winner of the Public Library Entrepreneur of the Year and heads the only library service to be awarded a double three star rating by the Audit Commission for its Best Value Review.  Trevor oversaw the re-opening of the refurbished Sutton Central Library - the first fully self-service library in the country in January 2005.  He has been a member of CILIP Council since April 2004 as group councillor for the Public Libraries Group.  He was a founder member of and latterly a consultant to the Bertelsmann Foundations's International Network of Public Libraries and visited libraries in America, Canada, Singapore, Finland, Holland, Germany and Australia during his time with the network.
