Biography
Viv McKee joined The National Youth Agency in May 2001. As Director of Policy and Development, her responsibilities include: corporate planning and quality; youth policy development; strategic management of programmes and research. She has served on various advisory groups including those established by government.
She previously worked for Leicestershire County Council, more recently as Youth and Community Education Service Manager. She had responsibility for strategy, management and quality of informal work with under fives, children's work, youth work, adult education and community development across Leicestershire. During this period she also worked two days per week on secondment for Government Office East Midlands on regional youth work issues and also for the local Connexions Service on youth involvement. She has also worked as a youth worker and teacher.
Abstract
The government green paper “Youth Matters” has set a challenging agenda for services and organisations which work with young people. It emphasises the role of the local authority in planning and securing services. This approach sits well with “Fulfilling Our Potential”. This input will explore the implications for the work of libraries with young people in the current context.
