• 8th May 2007 – AGM & Training day Legal Information, CILIP HQ
• 28 – 30th June Umbrella 2007 Jill Barker spoke about Health/Books On Prescription in public libraries and how prison libraries could benefit.
• 7th & 8th October 2007 - Prison Libraries Group Annual Conference, Forest Pines Hotel, Scunthorpe, Lincs.
Publications
• Website – updated regularly, contains news of training events and information about the Group: www.cilip.org.uk/prlg
• Prison Libraries Journal – published 3 times a year provides examples of good practice and advice for professional librarians in penal establishments. News and articles welcome from members.
• Prison Libraries Group – new information leaflet printed 2007
• Impact Statement – sent to Library Authorities 3.2007. This document sets out the diverse effects the prison library can have on the life of an offender and is available on the website.
• Training Pack for Prison Librarians – currently being updated
Awards
• Margaret Watson Award 2007 – no award made as criteria not fulfilled
• Margaret Watson Award 2008 – entries are invited for this year’s award. The award of £100 is for non-professional staff working in prison libraries who can demonstrate exemplary work done and a commitment to continuing professional development in the workplace. Winner will be announced at the 2008 Conference.

• Working with MLA to introduce a national offer for ex-offenders and their families around membership of their local library
• Working with the Border and Immigration Agency around the possible introduction of standards for libraries in Immigration Removal Centres
