About PTEG

PTEG works to promote and support excellence in the management and development of human resources throughout the library and information community.

Our objectives:

  • To provide cost-effective training and development opportunities
  • To disseminate good practice and innovation
  • To facilitate the exchange of experience
  • To support managers in their human resource responsibilities
  • To develop human resource policies and strategies

Activities:

PTEG organises a Mentor Support Network to support CILIP Mentors in their work with qualification candidates. The Network has a contact in each Region, who co-ordinates activities for mentors, provides support and advice and facilitates exchange of information and good practice. Each Mentor Support Network Officer liaises closely with the local Career Development Group Registration Liaison Officer.

PTEG provides Meetings, Seminars and Workshops to support library and information professionals in their roles as human resource managers and developers. Events range from practical introductions on tools and techniques to updates on developments in human resource management.

PTEG publishes a journal Personnel, Training and Education, to provide a forum for discussion and debate on human resource issues. It also produces newsletters and guidelines to keep members informed of developments and provide advice on good practice in managing and developing people.

Full details of our activities and future plans are outlined in our Strategic Plan.
